In Melbourne

This blog has been lacking information due to the lack of access to a computer, I am in dire need of a laptop, but no-one is listening to my requests.
We arrived an hour or so ago in Docklands Melbourne at the Travelodge Hotel which is a brand new place  we booked and paid for a month or so ago. Got a good price, really very nice room with a huge bed. The view is a bit of a let down, a glass wall of building next door.
Glen navigated our way into the city very successfully, we stayed last night in Castlemaine at a lovely old place that was once owned by Burke who was a friend of Wills. Remember them? they both died in the desert somewhere. His old house is now a motel, rooms are very small and looks like last time decorated in the eighties, nineteen that is. Our room was very quiet and warm so it was OK for a night.
We loved The Great Ocean Road, this was really worth the time and effort to get to.
Photos coming soon.
We are off to have a look around this city we have heard so much about.

40TH Anniversary Royal Tour

Our trip to Adelaide & Melbourne is to celebrate our 40th year together ( Glen deserves a medal for sure ),the Queen has been notified! of England that is.
We will fly to Adelaide on the 29th of April where we will stay for four days with our oldest friends Allen & Dermott at there lovely home in the hills just outside of the city.
I have know Allen for more than 40 years, I met him when I was about 19 when I stayed at his brilliant old 1920's flat in Kings Cross for a while.(apartments weren't called apartments in those days they were all flats)It had one of those fabulous old lifts like a cage with incredibly heavy noisy steel folding doors. It made a terrible noise. It was a bit like the one in Suddenly Last Summer.

We stay in Adelaide from the 29th April until the 1st of May when we hire a car to drive over to Melbourne. We plan to take four days to get there and will stay in towns along the way, taking the Great Ocean Road for some of the trip stopping off where we feel like it.

We now have a map, it might come in handy. People say this drive is one of the most beautiful, so we really look forward to that.
We drop the car off on Friday 7th of May in Melbourne and stay here for four nights then we fly home.I don't know anything about Melbourne but we are staying in Docklands.

We will visit Glen's nephew, Anthony and his other half Hayden and hope for a guided tour. Maybe we can do restaurants. That weight we lost ? well forget it !!!!
Should be fun I hope, and we are hoping the rest of our lives will be fun !!!
It seems at present our lives are quite idyllic now that Glen has retired.
